About

Hello! My name is Rebecca Zemans. I’m the new Area 5 representative to Alderman Ameya Pawar’s 47th Ward Council. I created this blog so that it will be easier for everyone to find news about meetings, events and general excitement around our lovely neighborhood. Area 5 is geographically situated between Montrose and Lawrence, Ravenswood to Ashland. Currently, I own a home and a jewelry business all of which are located in Area 5.

Alderman Ameya Pawar’s vision for the Ward Council is to have us inform him as an advisory council so that we can influence his decisions for items such as budget and zoning and maintain the extraordinary character of the 47th ward. To do that, I need your help. Please follow this blog or email me at eastravenswoodrep at gmail.com to get updates. We need everyone’s voice.

I’m very much looking forward to meeting and working with all of you.

Thanks for reading,

Rebecca

    Hi there,

Do you have any solid information on the new zone I am in? I live on Carmen (south of Foster) between Ashland and Ravenswood. I heard of some rezoning matters occuring soon, if not already. I just would like to be certain on which ward/zone I am in.

I used to be in 47th ward, zone 5. Please let me know if you can be of assistance.

    Thanks,
    KH

    • Hi Kristin,
Thanks for your message. Area 5 was designated this year by the Alderman’s office for the purpose of the Ward Council, so I’m sorry to say I don’t know about zone 5. I know there will some changes to the Ward boundary in a few years due to some redistricting decided by the city this year. I believe that residents north of Lawrence Ave. will be part of the 40th Ward of which Andersonville is part, but I would contact the Alderman to be sure. You can reach the office at info@chicago47.org or by calling (773) 868-4747. They will be able to answer your questions about the redistricting and direct you to your neighborhood association. And please continue reading our blog as the information is pertinent to all residents of Chicago.
      Thanks again!
      Rebecca

I just found this by seeing a note to an upcoming meeting on another site. Glad to see it and now I can follow what’s happening!
